How to Split and Merge Files Easily in Ubuntu?


Sometimes you may wish to split a file, thereby making it easier to email or fit on storage devices. Here is a quick refresher course on splitting and joining.

Splitting

  • Open Application, "Terminal Program" on the Ubuntu menu bar, or using Main Menu -> Terminals -> Terminal Program.)
  • CD (change directory) to the directory where the file to be split is located. For instance,

How to Set up a Printer in a Windows Workgroup

This tutorial will show you how to print from Ubuntu to a printer connected to a Windows computer on a home network. Make sure your printer is turned on.

On Windows

  • Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes. Select your printer and right click on the icon. This will give you a pop-up window. Select "Sharing". Another window will pop up.
